Jesus Theology- Why I don’t Fight and Battle the Devil and Demons?
John 14:30, ”Hereafter I will not talk much with you for the prince of this world cometh, and he has nothing in me.” The NLT, Holman Christian Standard Bible and International Standard bible read, “he has no power over me.” Both Weymouth’s translation and Young’s literal translation read. “in me he has nothing.” The Aramaic Bible says ,”he has nothing to use against me.” Jesus is perfect theology. Why do we have a different theology for us as Christians than Jesus?
Colossians 2:15, ”And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it(the cross).” Most other translations say that “he disarmed principalities and powers.” 1John 3:8”…For this purpose the Son of God was manifest, to destroy (render helpless and paralyze) the works of the devil.” 1John 5:18 AMP” We know that anyone begotten of God does not practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God (Jesus) carefully watches over and protects him (Christ’s divine presence within him preserves him against the evil), and the wicked one does not lay hold of (get a grip) on him or touch him.”
Finally, 1Thessalonians 5:23, ”Now may the God of peace sanctify you wholly; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless until the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Verse 24 says, ”Faithful is he who calls you, who will also do it.” Do what” Sanctify or set you apart wholly or completely. Preserve you blameless spirit, soul and body. I have and every Christian has immunity from the devil. Jesus’ finished work at Calvary rendered him helpless and paralyzed him. He has no authority. The very presence of Christ in you prevents him from touching you. Then why do Christians have problems with the devil? Why all the warfare with Satan and his demons? The answer is because of wrong theology or wrong teaching or wrong belief from wrong teaching. If the devil has nothing in Jesus that means he has nothing in you. The scriptures speak for themselves. But Joe, haven’t you ever been sick as a Christian, or suffered pain or injury? Wasn’t that the devil and his demon germs causing the sickness or inflicting you with pain or causing accidents? I can answer from my own life and from the scriptures easily, no. Jesus clearly makes a distinction between curing diseases and dealing with demons in Luke 9:1-2. Not every sickness or disease or pain is from the devil. I know many have been told that. You don’t get rid of the devil and demons by taking medicine or by getting rest and drinking fluids, which by the way cures colds 100% of the time. The only time or times I was ill or had pain was because of something I was putting in my body that did not belong there or just doing dumb things. Not one time that I missed the nail with the hammer and hit my thumb was it the devil.
I would not tell anyone not to go to a doctor or take medicine. That is between them and God. My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and I am not my own. Jesus owns me and he is protecting me and every Christian from the attacks of the devil. Jesus is perfect theology. A quote from Dr. John G. Lake- “I don’t talk about the devil. I don’t even consider him. Jesus took care him for me.”
